This is roving made from lambswool from our Gulf Coast Native/Polypay or Gulf Coast Native/Romney cross lambs. As lamb's wool, it is softer and finer than our ewe's wool but I cannot give an exact micron count - it is probably somewhere in the middle. I would wear yarn from this roving in a scarf or hat but maybe not too close to the skin. This wool takes a dye well. The folks at Frankenmoth Woolen Mill in Michigan did a fantastic job of mixing the fleeces, cleaning them, and turning them into roving. There is still a small amount of hay in the roving (this was my first batch that I sent to the mill and I have since learned to be more selective). St. John’s wort has a long history of use in traditional Western herbal practices. Typical preparations include steeping as tea, oil infusion, and extract. St. John's Wort helps promote a healthy mood and emotional balance.* Hypericum perforatum is one of many species known commonly as St. John's wort, and is the species most commonly associated with herbal preparations. I love this scent - smoky, but a bit sweet. Bergamot essential oil is a dark, spicy citrus smell, like orange peel rather than orange juice, and it pairs beautifully with the smoky dark scent of cedarwood essential oil to make a great fragrance for men, as well as women. NOTE: This shampoo bar uses local non-GMO lard from Pig Mountain farm, and I have just started making it with local grass-fed beef tallow from Dayspring Farm as well - the tallow results in a slightly harder bar that will last longer in your shower! I do have a vegetarian bar available as well, in a separate listing. Why use a shampoo bar? Partly to avoid all those disturbing ingredients in commercial shampoo! Then wouldn’t any nice, handmade bar soap work? Well, I’ve tried it, with my own goat milk soap, and it was not what I wanted! Hair, and even more importantly our scalp, needs ultra-moisturizing treatment, and this bar is specially made to do that. Hair gets oily because we wash off all our natural oils, prompting the scalp to make more. But that makes our hair oily, so we wash it again, further stripping our scalp of natural protective oils... And because we’re stripping everything off our hair - and scalp - we need a conditioner to make it soft and smooth and healthy (everything the natural oils were trying to do, incidentally). This variety is about 14" tall. Shasta Daisies are all-time favorites for the perennial border. The cheery flowers begin to appear in late spring and continue on for several months if faithfully deadheaded. Shastas mix so effortlessly with other perennials that no garden should be without them! This is a plant that is easily grown in average, well-drained soils in full sun. It's a good cut flower, attracts butterflies, is suitable for dried flowers, and serves as a butterfly nectar sources. In spring, remove all dead foliage; and cut back to basal foliage in fall. Cuttings can be done in summer; and division can be done in the spring and is recommended every 2-3 years. Fertilize with Holly-tone or a water soluble fertilizer as recommended.

This azalea is a more established plant in a three-gallon pot. It has soft pink flowers with deeper rose-pink throat markings. It is easy to grow in light to medium shade, and is cold-hardy and weather resistant. Its growth is vigorous but disciplined, and it will reliably cover itself with color in early spring. Then in September it will produce a second flush of color, perhaps not as prolific as in spring, but very welcome at a time of year when not too many flowers are in bloom.

This 4 oz rectangle bar has a dragonfly molded on the front, either plain cream-colored soap, or I can paint it green with natural mica color, add a note in a "Note to Grower" at checkout, if you would like it painted. The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I hand-make all my soap in small batches, 6 to 36 bars at a time. If you have used a good handmade soap before, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my tallow body balm on my hands occasionally, and my lip balm or lip blush all year-round!

The herbal scent of Eucalyptus essential oil paired with the spicy fragrance of Peppermint essential oil is a classic, and one of my most popular soap scents. Made with my own hand-milked goat milk, local lard from a friend's sustainable small farm that I render myself, and a little coconut oil and of course lye - that's it! I don't use Palm oil as many soapmakers do - while it itself is a useful oil, I can't condone the harmful cultivation practices used to produce it, and find I don't need it - this soap is wonderful without it!  It is so moisturizing and good for your skin, with extra vitamins and nutrients from the goat milk, as well as the luxurious oils I use. If you have used goat milk soap before, or any good handmade soap, you know that it is a completely different creature than commercial soap, which can be so drying! When soap is made by hand, the chemical reaction of oils with a lye solution forms the substances soap and glycerin. A typical bar of handmade soap is roughly 1/3 glycerin! This is a humectant, meaning it pulls water from the air - when on your skin, it literally moisturizes your skin by attracting water to it. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is distilled and removed, and later sold back to you in a lotion, but in the "real thing", it is all one package. I used to use lotions and moisturizers a lot, especially in the winter, but I virtually never use them anymore, other than some of my grass-fed tallow balm on my hands occasionally. The 4 oz bar comes in a simple square bar, hand-wrapped in brown paper, with labels including complete ingredients. I use lard that I render myself from either Pig Mountain's or Cove Creek's pastured, non-GMO-fed pigs. While lard soap often has a reputation for being harsh or rough on skin, that is largely because many years ago, lye was not consistently refined, and people didn't use precision measurements. Today, with 100% pure lye and my digital scale, lard makes a beautiful white soap, very hard and long-lasting, with good cleaning power, while being very gentle and great for skin. Handmade liquid soap, from scratch! This is a concentrated liquid lard soap, made here on the farm from hand-rendered lard courtesy of Cove Creek Farm.  This handmade soap is 80% local lard and 20% coconut oil, which adds extra cleaning power and lather.  My bar lard soap has gotten great reviews, so I've simply converted the same recipe to liquid form for those of you that prefer the convenience of liquid over bar soap. I love that I can make a great soap mostly from local ingredients sourced right here in Tennessee – most of my other soap ingredients come from halfway around the world, so I'm excited that I can reduce my (and therefore your) carbon footprint and source most of this soap locally!  Lard soap is surprisingly moisturizing and gentle on skin. While lard soap often has a reputation for being harsh or rough on skin, that is largely because many years ago, lye was not consistently refined, and people didn't use precision measurements.  Today, with 100% pure lye and a digital scale, lard makes a beautiful soap, very hard and long-lasting, with good cleaning power, while being surprisingly gentle and great for skin. I have gotten great reviews about how wonderful this soap is on skin - gentle, moisturizing, cleansing, and no residue! I make this soap very concentrated, so it will work well in the foaming pump dispensers - if you want to use it in the standard squirt-pump bottle, you'd probably prefer the thickened "creamy" version (also here on the market) - without the thickening agent (simply table salt!!) it tends to splatter a bit. Since this is concentrated, you can dilute it further, "to taste", but it will be very thin, and may not work in the foaming pump as well.   This is sold as a refill for your existing foaming-pump bottle, it is packaged in a re-purposed plastic bottle that I received sodium hydroxide (lye) in for soap-making. The bottle has been thoroughly washed, and holds 32 oz of soap. Once you're finished with the bottle, I'd love to have it back to continue it's useful life - just return it the the farmer's market - or I hope you either recycle it, or re-purpose it again - I use dozens of these in my kitchen for storing grains, beans, flour, nut-meal, seeds etc, they're such a great size and fit well in a kitchen cabinet!  To learn more about me, my goats, our farm here in Tennessee, or how I make my soap, stop by my blog or check out our new Instagram account and see what’s going on on the farm!

Rather than blending both, I’m just offering this version and you can add cumin to taste for making chili. I used it recently on roasted chickpeas and it would also be fantastic on chicken, lamb, beef or most any meat, potato or sweet potato wedges, and any number of other dishes.
