Welcome to the market!
Ordering takes place each week from Friday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 10 a.m.
We will have only two options at pickup going forward:
Curbside pickup — We will have orders pre-packed for you and have runners to deliver your orders to your car from 4:30-6pm at the Sewanee Community Center. We will have your account total available and paying by check is more efficient for us at this time. We will also be accepting payment via Venmo to Rooted-Here. Please be patient with us as we implement this new system.
Delivery option — If you are unable or would rather not participate in our curbside pickup option, you can choose to have your order delivered. Please add delivery to your order if you prefer this option. If you haven’t placed an order yet, include your delivery details as a note to the market managers and our delivery folks as you submit your order. Deliveries will happen after 6 on Tuesday. We ask that delivery customers please pay by venmo at the time of delivery to Rooted-Here. You will see a charge on your account that will be zeroed out upon receipt of your venmo payment. Your delivery will include a printed invoice with your order total. If you are outside the Sewanee/Monteagle area, please send an email to cumberlandfm@gmail.com and we will try our best to work out a delivery option.
You may search for products by category, by best sellers, or by farm. Happy Shopping!

Eggs - 2 dozen free range and organicGrower: Summer Fields
Price: $9.00 ( 2 dozen )Available (Exact): 2
Super thick shells and bright orange yolks from pasture-raised chickens that are fed Organic oats, wheat, field peas, and sunflower seeds (no soy or corn). Our chickens scratch and wander and are rotated through green pastures behind our sheep and goats. They live a life of leisure and when they are not out and about, they are roosting or laying eggs in their fabulous chicken camper. I'm quite pleased to have made the switch to Certified Organic Feed last year. Though, it has increased my cost, I'm thrilled to know that they are not ingesting the pesticides and herbicides (or GMOs) used in conventional feed and that we are supporting other organic farmers that are investing in good soil for a healthier planet.

Eggs - 2 Dozen Free Range and organic, laid since 5/11Grower: Grandmother Mountain Organics
Price: $9.50 ( 2 doz brown/blue/green )Available (Exact): 0
Our free-range, organically (=non-gmo) fed heritage breed chickens and turkeys happily roam around our woods, yard, and fields during the day, looking for bugs, hiding from hawks, and occasionally napping in the shade. Our chickens are actually pretty entertaining to have around, and they're friendly and curious.
They find enough random bugs and greens to eat that they don't eat much store-bought feed. We supplement their diet with kitchen scraps, garden trimmings (organically raised of course!), and certified-organic feed (still non-gmo!), which is grown and milled by an Amish-run organic cooperative in Kentucky. We have a backyard heritage-breed flock of 25 free-ranging layers (welsummers, cochins, australorps, barred rocks, cuckoo marans, buff orpingtons, Rhode Island reds, Americaunas, red star), two roosters, 5 royal-palm turkeys, and three geese. They raise a ruckus.
The chicken eggs' yolks are bright and tasty, and the buff to dark brown shells are strong. The birds have wild forage, with no herbicides or pesticides used on any of our 17 acres, and the birds are unmedicated, happy, healthy, and humanely treated. Help put our small surplus to use. Eggs are individually dated on the date of lay, so you know they are fresh.

Eggs - Duck 1 dozenGrower: Solace Farm
Price: $6.00 ( 1 dozen )Available (Exact): 9
View RecipesEggs are one of the most economical and nutritious proteins out there.
You can feed a family on a few dollars, literally. Compare the cost of a frittata with burgers or steak, or a roast chicken!
These are very large (jumbo-sized) white and occasionally green-tinted eggs from our mixed flock of Khaki Campbells and Golden Cascades. These ducks are free-range, roaming the yard and wherever they feel like, really. They do get traditional layer feed overnight but only have access to our yard, pastures, and pond all day long. These eggs have deep orange yolks and thick whites that will show you why they’re called “whites” (and make chicken egg whites look eerily yellow). I don't think there is any difference in taste, but I do think there is a noticable difference in texture - the duck eggs have firmer whites and very rich yolks, I like them much better than chicken eggs.
Duck eggs are the best for baking, giving extra loft and lightness to cakes, meringues, etc. They also make fluffier scrambled eggs and omelettes as well, and are superb hard-boiled.
Note: it is possible to have an allergy to duck eggs due to the difference in their protein, which generally manifests as anything from slight nausea to stomach-bug-type symptoms. HOWEVER - on the other hand, if someone has an “egg allergy” it is most likely only to chicken eggs and NOT to duck eggs, and quite possibly they can actually eat eggs as long as they are duck! I find it frustrating and sad that such potentially life-changing information is so little-known.
