Herbal Hair RinceGrower: Cline Apothecary
Price: $12.99 ( 8 oz )Available (Estimated): 1
Herbal hair rinse is made with fresh or dried herbs (not the essential oils).
This rinse treats many of the (suspected) causes of dandruff, soothes our irritated skin, and is nourishing to our hair.
Contains, white vinegar, distilled water, hibiscus, rosemary, plantain, thyme and calendula
Rosemary – Rosemary’s volatile oils have strong antimicrobial functions, especially against fungal infections. Rosemary stimulates blood flow to the scalp, and adds shine to your hair.
Thyme – Thyme’s volatile oil constituents, especially thymol, are antimicrobial and thyme has been used by herbalists as a wound wash or poultice for preventing infections. Works against fungal infections as well as bacterial.
Calendula is a common medicinal herb and ornamental garden plant, and has been used medicinally for centuries, both internally and topically. Calendula flowers have constituents that improve healing and are anti-inflammatory. For our hair rinse, the calendula treats both the scalp and moisturizes the hair. I thought my idea using it as part of a vinegar hair rinse was unique, but then I read that Nicholas Culpeper, a 17th century botanist and herbalist mentioned using calendula juice mixed with vinegar as a rinse for the skin and scalp. (Darn, he beat me to it.)The bright yellow flowers may add some color to your hair, so I recommend starting with a small amount. Of course, if you want the color, you can add as much calendula as you like.
Plantain – Plantain is our family favorite plant for all kinds of “owies” including bee and insect stings, splinters, and cuts. Plantain has both antimicrobial as well as healing and soothing properties. Plantain soothes the scalp, relieves itching, and moisturizes the hair. We always seem to find it when we need it. If you have some growing near you, you can easily dry the leaves and store in a jar for year-round use.

Hibiscus FlowerGrower: Cline Apothecary
Price: $9.99 ( 4oz )Available (Estimated): 6
Hibiscus sabdariffa is a member of the mallow family known for its vibrant red flowers. Large, showy hibiscus flowers thrive in tropical habitats and are commonly made into hibiscus tea. The cooling, refreshing brew can be quite tart. When enjoyed hot or iced, its common to add a natural sweetener to dull the tartness. Our organically cultivated hibiscus flower is ideal for blending into herbal infusions, crafting herbal syrups, and dying fabric.
There are over 220 species within the genus Hibiscus which belong to the Malvaceae plant family. Hibiscus plants grow in most tropical areas of the world, with a minority of species able to survive in freezing environments. The abundant species found in the tropics cannot tolerate more than a few days of freezing weather and will die if such conditions persist. Hibiscus flowers come in a magnificent variety of colors. Also called roselle and ambashthaki.
Hibiscus flowers are the main ingredient in many wonderfully refreshing teas made around the world, especially in Mexico, Latin America, and North Africa. A tea known as Agua de Jamaica, or simply Jamaica in Mexico, is usually served chilled with copious amounts of sugar to sweeten the natural tartness of the hibiscus.
Precautions
Hibiscus flowers are often intercropped with peanuts. Occasionally fragments of peanut shells are present. Caution for individuals with severe peanut allergies. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.

Holy Basil TinctureGrower: Cline Apothecary
Price: $29.99 ( 2 oz )Available (Estimated): 4
Holy basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum), otherwise known as tulsi, is known for its therapeutic power when it comes to maintaining homeostasis and fighting the effects of stress. The tulsi plant has a rich history dating back 3,000 years ago to ancient India. It’s long been considered an “adaptogen” and medicinal, sacred herb in Ayurvedic medicine. Historically, it was used as medicine and still is today due to its anti-stress effects that promote balance throughout the entire body (including in the immune, reproductive, central nervous and cardiovascular systems). Today, tulsi is commonly consumed in supplement form or as holy basil tea. Research tells us that holy basil benefits include naturally decreasing anxiety and adrenal fatigue/dysfunction, as well as decreasing symptoms caused by hypothyroidism, unbalanced blood sugar, acne and more.
Ingredients
Organic cane alcohol, water, and fresh organic holy basil.

Honey - pure, raw, spring honey, harvested June 2022Grower: Grandmother Mountain Organics
Price: $25.00 ( 1 quart (32 oz) )Available (Exact): 12
This spring wildflower honey from our friends in the hive is a little bit like "creamed honey", since it quickly and naturally partly-crystallized. It still melts decadently on warm bread or in your tea. If you prefer your honey completely liquid, no problem, just warm it -- but beware that this will possibly change the allergy-protection properties unique to truly raw honey (via the pollen). This spring's honey is a lighter golden color than last year's spring honey, and my niece (a super critical taster, age 9) keeps declaring it the best thing she has ever (or will ever) taste in her whole life-- though she's said that each time she's had honey from here. Best compliment ever, in any case, and the bees approve. Though bees can fly miles looking for forage, the land nearest our farm is dominated by forest and pasture, so this spring-time mountain honey will be dominated by area tree and wildflower pollen and nectar. The sourwood trees just started blooming after we 'borrowed' this honey from the hives, so we will have to wait until I can bottle the harvested August honey to sample sourwood honey. This honey has been strained with a coarse mesh only. Our honey contains propolis and pollen, and is completely free of any additions. It has never been heated at all by any humans, but I can't speak for the bees.
