This floral fragrance has rich jasmine in the front, with citrus and spices following. This all-natural balm is ultra-moisturizing with almond & olive oils and shea & cocoa butters, and always-local beeswax makes it last. This balm comes in a 1.5 oz metal tin with lid - please recycle it or return it to help keep my costs and material footprint (and therefore yours!) as low as possible. Why use a solid moisturizer? Solid lotion balm has no preservatives, unlike liquid lotions that require some kind of preservative to avoid harmful bacterial growth that can occur anytime water is added. Also, you get more for your money, since you’re not paying for all that water, preservatives, colors (even in white lotions often!), and unpronounceable, mystery ingredients. A solid lotion is also great for travel - it won’t leak and avoids the liquid restrictions for air travel. Lastly, it makes a great lip balm, for a fraction of the price of the tiny little tubes! All-natural semi-solid lotion, made with local grass-fed & grass-finished, hand-rendered beef tallow, Shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin, local beeswax, and olive & almond oils. This solid body balm bar is molded in an easy-to-use bar. It comes packaged in a metal tin for storage and travel, simply turn it out on your hands, and either apply directly with the bar, or rub the bar like soap, and then apply to skin with hands. This balm uses home-rendered beef tallow from Cove Creek and Pig Mountain Farms, as well as luscious, healing lanolin and both raw, hand-milled and certified Fair Trade cocoa and Shea butter, and the Shea butter is also certified organic - both these ingredients are sourced from a small women's cooperative in Ghana. Don't store the balm - in or out of the tin - in direct sunlight, it does melt easily! And this is potent stuff, a tiny bit goes a long way! I recommend starting out with an amount you feel is too little and adjusting upwards if necessary, to avoid over-applying. This balm is amazing for dry winter skin, feet, elbows and knees, hands, lips, or really anywhere you want your skin nourished with natural oils, and the beeswax lends staying power for truly long-lasting moisturizing.  This Tallow Balm feels identical to a "regular" Hand & Body Balm, but I love that we’re able to produce half of it right on our own farm! While the other ingredients are really wonderful and nourishing, it is frustrating that I have to purchase them from pretty much the other side of the world and I feel so much better knowing that not only is grass-fed grass-finished tallow at least as good for my skin, but the steer that produced this tallow was born and spent his whole life on a small farm just a few miles down the road. Grass-fed tallow is wonderful for skin, with its molecules more closely matching our "animal" skin oils than vegetable oils do.  It also contains those fat soluble vitamins we need such as A, D, E, and K, as well as others nutrients thought to be age- and cancer-fighting. Each scent is listed as either a fragrance oil or an essential oil.  Fragrance oils are synthetic oils, often used for scents that just don't occur as an essential oil.  For example, we simply can't distill the scent of oatmeal, milk, or honey - there is no natural oil for those.  Synthetic fragrance oils are generally thought to be the #1 allergen in cosmetics, although I've never had a complaint, and I have a number of customers who use only my soaps and lotions because of extremely sensitive skin, and they use varieties with fragrance oils.

I love that they are made with a local product (from either our cattle or sheep, Dayspring Farm cattle or sheep, Cove Creek cattle, or Summerfields sheep), that would go to waste otherwise, and is actually fantastic for our skin. Grass-fed tallow is full of all those wonderful fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E & K, and many other compounds that are so beneficial to skin. I render all the tallow for these here at Solace Farm, so half of this balm is NOT shipped halfway around the world, another reason I love using tallow in my products. This balm is 50% grassfed tallow, as well as my regular balm ingredients - olive and almond oils, shea and cocoa butters, and local beeswax to make it really last on your skin, even through moderate washing. I really love this balm for hands, feet, and baby bottoms, or anywhere else you want serious moisturizing - a little bit goes a long way, and it really lasts. The Peppermint & Tea Tree in particular is great for healing, everything from diaper rash to mild skin irritations to eczema, according to some of my customers. This is the simplest solid lotion I make, and in my opinion, the best. It is simply 90% grassfed tallow and 10% liquid shea oil. This is amazing stuff - much less greasy/oily-feeling than my regular Body Balm (which I still love, especially for lips!), it soaks right in and really moisturizes. Tallow is great for skin, and is local, sustainable, and much more eco-friendly and ethical than many oils that contribute to deforestation, labor exploitation, etc. We render this ourselves, either from our own Scottish Highland steers or our Tunis sheep, or Dayspring Farm's sheep or cattle, or Cove Creek's cattle, or Summerfields' sheep - we try to respect the sacrifice our heritage animals have made to feed and aid us, and use all that we can from the animals. (We also tan the hides and clean the skulls and horns as striking wall decorations). I try to maintain a stock of these in multiple fragrances, but I am also happy to make this to order, so if you have a preference specify beef or sheep tallow, and choose the scent you would like from the list below and include a “note to the grower” at checkout with your selection.
