Eregion Farm (The name comes from Tolkien’s elf language and means “land of holly”…it is not a play on the 4 E names in our family :-))was originally formed to provide healthy food for our family. I never quite got the balance right between animals necessary to provide for us and number of family members, so often had an excess. I soon discovered there was a big demand in this area for our products so I kept expanding the business to our current level.
There has been no use of artificial pesticides or fertilizers on our land since we moved here 12 years ago. We are not technically organic because we buy all our supplemental feed from a local farmer in Martin Springs, but all our animals are raised on pasture and are given local hay in the winter. We do not use any hormones, and only administer antibiotics when animals are truly sick and in need. We offer a wide range of products and deliver throughout the Monteagle – Sewanee area every Tuesday.
