This is roving made from lambswool from our Gulf Coast Native/Polypay or Gulf Coast Native/Romney cross lambs. As lamb's wool, it is softer and finer than our ewe's wool but I cannot give an exact micron count - it is probably somewhere in the middle. I would wear yarn from this roving in a scarf or hat but maybe not too close to the skin. This wool takes a dye well. The folks at Frankenmoth Woolen Mill in Michigan did a fantastic job of mixing the fleeces, cleaning them, and turning them into roving. There is still a small amount of hay in the roving (this was my first batch that I sent to the mill and I have since learned to be more selective). This is stored whole-leaf to preserve the flavor, we zap it in a spice grinder just before bottling and filling orders, to the texture of hand-rubbed sage. We bottle in upcycled glass spice bottles.

Its bright yellow flowers are reminiscent of the sun and are traditionally harvested in the peak of summer between June and August. St. John’s wort has a long history of use in traditional Western herbal practices. Typical preparations include steeping as tea, oil infusion, and extract. St. John's Wort helps promote a healthy mood and emotional balance.* Hypericum perforatum is one of many species known commonly as St. John's wort, and is the species most commonly associated with herbal preparations. It is native to Europe but has since been naturalized to other temperate climates around the world, with particular prominence in North America. The plant is a creeping perennial, producing star-shaped yellow flowers containing long, abundant stamens.
