These are a mix of brown and blue eggs from our backyard coop. We have Wyandottes, Bluff Orpingtons and Polish Crested Hens. We feed them kitchen scraps, scratch corn and unmedicated feed from Bowlen’s Farm Supply in Decherd. Happy Chickens make such beautiful eggs.

Eggs are one of the most economical and nutritious proteins out there. You can feed a family on a few dollars, literally. Compare the cost of a frittata with burgers or steak, or a roast chicken! These are very large (jumbo-sized) white and occasionally green-tinted eggs from our mixed flock of Khaki Campbells and Golden Cascades. These ducks are free-range, roaming the yard and wherever they feel like, really. They do get traditional layer feed overnight but only have access to our yard, pastures, and pond all day long. These eggs have deep orange yolks and thick whites that will show you why they’re called “whites” (and make chicken egg whites look eerily yellow). I don't think there is any difference in taste, but I do think there is a noticable difference in texture - the duck eggs have firmer whites and very rich yolks, I like them much better than chicken eggs. Duck eggs are the best for baking, giving extra loft and lightness to cakes, meringues, etc. They also make fluffier scrambled eggs and omelettes as well, and are superb hard-boiled. Note: it is possible to have an allergy to duck eggs due to the difference in their protein, which generally manifests as anything from slight nausea to stomach-bug-type symptoms. HOWEVER - on the other hand, if someone has an “egg allergy” it is most likely only to chicken eggs and NOT to duck eggs, and quite possibly they can actually eat eggs as long as they are duck! I find it frustrating and sad that such potentially life-changing information is so little-known.

Our flock of Silver Appleyard ducks are pastured ducks who love to run around, especially in the rain. They eat anything that they can get from the ground or the pond. We supplement their food with non-GMO feed. The eggs are not graded and range in size from large to extra large with the occasional Jumbo egg.

Our chickens get a lot of grass, and not as much grain as most. So the yolks are extra dark yellow and much better tasting than the ones you get at the store.

Super thick shells and bright orange yolks from pasture-raised chickens that are fed Organic oats, wheat, field peas, and sunflower seeds (no soy or corn). Our chickens scratch and wander and are rotated through green pastures behind our sheep and goats. They live a life of leisure and when they are not out and about, they are roosting or laying eggs in their fabulous chicken camper. I'm quite pleased to have made the switch to Certified Organic Feed last year. Though, it has increased my cost, I'm thrilled to know that they are not ingesting the pesticides and herbicides (or GMOs) used in conventional feed and that we are supporting other organic farmers that are investing in good soil for a healthier planet.

**read at the end for price increase info.** Our free-range, organically (=non-gmo) fed heritage breed chickens and turkeys happily roam around our woods, yard, and fields during the day, looking for bugs, hiding from hawks, and occasionally napping in the shade. Our chickens are actually pretty entertaining to have around, and they're friendly and curious. They find random bugs and greens to eat, & we supplement their diet with kitchen scraps, garden trimmings, and certified-organic grains (still non-gmo!), grown and milled by an organic cooperative in Kentucky. We have a backyard heritage-breed flock of 47 free-ranging layers (mostly hatched on-farm from welsummers, cochins, australorps, barred rocks, cuckoo marans, buff orpingtons, Rhode Island reds, Americaunas, and other ancestry), 3 roosters, 8 heritage turkeys, and a mated pair of geese. The chicken eggs' yolks are bright and tasty, and the buff to dark brown or blue or green shells are strong. The birds have wild forage, with no herbicides or pesticides used on any of our 17 acres, and the birds are unmedicated, happy, healthy, and humanely treated. Help put our small surplus to use. NOT COUNTING OUR TIME (which we do not get paid for! and oh how many hours!), just in organic feed costs and supplies, we took a loss 2022 of >$1000. Sorry we have to raise prices, and if it's too much, we understand! If sales cannot support these prices, and folks go to the pig instead (where I think organic eggs are more than this), so be it, we can cut back our operation, but we sure can't sustain scaling up, and we won't compromise on animal welfare or sustainability. But golly gosh we can't afford to take a loss each year. Good luck to us all!*****

Our eggs come from chickens raised on organic pasture. They are free to roam and forage and are rotated to fresh pasture daily. Their diet is supplemented with local Non Gmo grain grown by our neighbors. Our eggs have thick brown shells and orange yolks.

Our Farm Fresh Extra-Large Blue Eggs are laid by our free range Ameraucana hens. They are one of our friendliest hens! Although most eggs are blue, they also lay an occasional green egg. So there may be both in the egg carton! Our girls are pampered and are fed non-GMO feed, as well as meal worms. They also get veggies when available. Their eggs have sturdy, thick shells suitable for any egg recipe or project!
