Mellie's Jellies and Surplus Sass

This grower has a photo album.

Dan, Iliana, and Verena Pate and Laurel York. This is our second year to grow and sell in Sewanee. Sugar snap peas, early potatoes, carrots and beets are in the pipeline at the moment and we also expect to be offering swiss chard again as well as some head lettuce, kale, and patty pan squash. We have started a second garden where we live now in Midway, reviving an old country garden where a preacher used to do a good bit. We are fertilizing with composted leaves and never use any herbicides, fungicides or synthetic pesticides. We try to get our seeds from biodynamic or organic sources, and also use seed savers exchange. We base our gardening on ten years of experience with organics and gardening knowledge gained through such inspiring authors as John Jeavons, Eliot Coleman, Alex Podolinsky, Rudolf Steiner, David Holmgren, and Bill Mollison.
